SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A free speech demonstration staged by conservative activists rapidly fell aside in downtown San Francisco on Saturday after a number of hundred counterprotestors surged the world, outnumbering and attacking these gathered, together with knocking one within the mouth.
A photographer working for The Related Press witnessed an activist with Group Save America taken away in an ambulance and an injured San Francisco police officer on the bottom by San Francisco’s United Nations Plaza.
Group Save America organized the rally to protest Twitter, which it mentioned squelches conservative speech.
Members of the group wore purple “Make America Nice Once more” Trump marketing campaign hats and carried pro-police “Skinny Blue Line” flags and U.S. flags.
Philip Anderson, the organizer of the occasion, posted photographs to social media of his bloody mouth with a entrance tooth lacking and one other hanging loosely. He mentioned anti-fascist protesters attacked him “for no cause.”
Anderson took the stage at about 1 p.m. and was greeted by chants and plastic water bottles and glass bottles thrown over police barricades.
The occasion was canceled, though either side lingered within the space into the afternoon.
Messages left with the San Francisco Police Division weren’t instantly returned Saturday.
Anderson referred to as the counterprotesters hypocrites and mentioned they’re the rationale why he is voting for President Donald Trump.
“I like America, I like this nation and I like free speech,” he mentioned.
